CHINA OPENS ITS DOORS TO THE BIG BROTHER
China opens the door to “Big Brother,” the popular reality show format across the world about the life of the protagonists monitored 24 hours a day by cameras. Endemol Asia, as stated on the website of the BBC, has reached an agreement with Youku Tudou, the leading video site in China with more than 500 million active users. The reality show will be launched in early 2015 and will last 10 weeks, but will be sent only on the video platform, because of the restrictions that the Chinese government has imposed three years ago the number of reality shows and talk shows because of their “vulgar tendencies.” “We are excited to announce this important agreement with Youku Tudou, which could lead to a format that will change the face of television in China for the first time,” said the CEO of Endemol Asia Arjen van Mierlo.
