YAHOO OUT FROM CHINA, EVEN PICK UP E-MAIL AND RESEARCH: VINCE WEIBO
Yahoo! says goodbye to China. After closing the e-mail service last month and the musical in 2012, the new strategy of Marissa Mayer, new CEO, provides the full withdrawal from the Chinese territory, apparently not suitable for the company’s future or simply not profitable.
The official website of the Chinese company in Sunnyvale, after a brief farewell message, now addresses to “now.taobao.com” domain operated by Alibaba, until the last partner of Yahoo! in China.
The Yahoo! services, despite a 8-year partnership with Alibaba, have failed to find the necessary space to be profitable and spread as the leadership has originally hoped. Although in China there is a decent internet censorship, Weibo and its social network-like Twitter are extremely popular and difficult scalfibili.
Alibaba has previously repurchased the 20% stake held by Yahoo! at a cost of 7 billion.
