CHINA. RAIL NETWORK OF CHINA RECORD: 100.000 KM

The railway network of China today touches the remarkable milestone of the 100,000 kilometers of track . Today, in fact, were inaugurated connections between different cities and provinces of China , between these lines Xiamen – Shenzhen , Xi’an – Baoji, Chongqing- Lichuan and others in the southwest for a total of another 2,000 kilometers.

The hundred thousand kilometers of track , more than 10,000 are high-speed , reports the Xinhua news agency , citing Hu Yadong , deputy general manager of China Railway Corporation .

The expansion of the railway network was opened just before the peak holiday, a period of about 40 days which will begin on January 16 and will allow an increase in passenger transport by 7.9 % , ensures the Transport Minister , Yang Chuantang .

The first Chinese railway was opened in 1876 in Shanghai , at the time of the birth of new China in 1949 , the railway network boasted just 22 thousand kilometers, of which only half was in operation . According to the plan, national rail network of high-speed trains will be extended to 19,000 km in 2015 , while in 2020 the entire railway network will be 120 thousand kilometers.
