DUCATI MOTOR: 2014 RECORD THANKS TO GROWTH IN ASIA

In 2014 Ducati Motor reported a new sales record, delivering to customers 45,100 motorcycles, 2% more than in 2013, confirming for the fifth consecutive year, the positive growth trend. In particular, the Monster family that, thanks to the arrival of new models in 1200 and 821, showed a + 31% growth, with 16,409 units registered. Monster is added to the arrival of 899 Panigale, which generated a + 74% with 5,806 units, achieving greater volumes for the entire Superbike family of + 12%, closing 2014 with a total of 9,788 motorcycles sold in throughout the world.

In North America, registrations were in line with those in 2013, with Mexico that grew by 8%. The United States continues to be the world’s leading market for Ducati, with 8,804 bikes delivered to customers. Despite difficult market conditions, sales increased considerably in South America, particularly in Brazil (+ 74% with 1,174 bikes) thanks to a strong network expansion dealers in this country and to the introduction of the full range with local production in CKD.

In Europe sales showed a slowdown (-3% with 19,743 units), mainly related to the plight of some markets. If in Italy registrations have not maintained the level of 2013 (-14% with 4,284 bikes) in other European countries, sales were fairly stable, with double-digit growth for the UK (+ 16% with 2,742 units).

Growth “double digits” in Asia, where Ducati has achieved the best result ever (+ 11% with 5,787 bikes) with strong growth in Thailand (+ 22% with 3,057 units) and in China, which, compared to 2013 has doubled its volume (+ 97%). Ducati has had a significant increase in sales in Australia (+ 13% with 2,132 bikes) and grew up in Japan (+ 1% with 2,558 units).
