SCHIA SAFARI: 100 CHEF FOR TWO DAYS OF TASTE

One hundred chefs in Ischia to celebrate the flavors of the territory and to support the island in a difficult time. The third edition of Ischia Safari doubles the number of protagonists, from fifty to one hundred: great kitchen names, starred chefs and emerging chefs, pizzaioli of rank and chef patissier. A two-day – September 18 and September 19 – pointing the spotlight on Ischia less than a month after the earthquake that shook part of the island. The idea of ​​”Ischia Safari”, born three years ago, is made up of two great chefs: Nino Di Costanzo, two Michelin stars with his Danì Maison, and Pasquale Palamaro, a Michelin star at the Hotel Indigo Queen Isabella. “We have imagined it from the beginning as a festival and as a tribute to the best Italian cuisine,” explains the two chefs, Ischitans of origin and interpreters of the island’s new, creative, innovative cuisine, but well anchored to the great traditions locals.
On Monday, September 18, at the fall of the sun, in the gardens of the Negombo Thermal Park of Lacco Ameno, one hundred chefs and pizzas, as well as many artisans, ice-cream makers and vintners, will feature a unique path of taste. No protagonist, no hierarchy, but just the desire to be together, confront and feel good. The public (45 euro participation fee) will tour the nine acres of parkland between exotic gardens, thermal pools, crags and paths in the green, in a real gourmet hunt. Hence the name of safari. From the fried pizza of the historic Masardona of Naples to the mozzarella of the Plain of Paestum of Barlotti, to the Nocillo of ‘E curti di Sant’Anastasia, to the many creations of chefs from all over Italy.
The wines will be those of the vineyards of the island (Casa D’Ambra, Cantine Antonio Mazzella, Pietratorcia, Tommasone, Crateca, Cenatiempo, Cantella Colella) to remember the history of the wine and the great wine tradition of Ischia, but also some of the best national productions : the Tuscan Banfi and Marchesi De Frescobaldi, Kettmeir from South Tyrol, the Franciacorta of Villa Crespia, the wines of Piedmont Michele Chiarlo and Sicily of Planeta.
On September 19th, the scene goes to the Queen Elizabeth Hotel where the Charity Gala Dinner will be held, which will see Andrea Migliaccio de L’Olivo in Capri, Anthony Genovese de Il Pagliaccio of Rome, Chicco and Bobo Cerea of ​​the Da Vittorio restaurant in Brusaporto, Francesco Sposito of Taverna Estia di Brusciano, Gaetano Found in Arnolfo in Colle Val d’Elsa, Giuseppe Iannotti of the Krèsios of Telese Terme, Pino Cuttaia of the restaurant La Madia di Licata, Vittorio Fusari of the Pont de Ferr in Milan and Mario Carrabs, the artisan’s butcher, Gesualdo in Irpinia, and the only pizza maker Franco Pepe of Caiazzo.
Thanks to the sponsorship of the Ferrarelle sponsors, Prosecco Doc, Amuchina and Mulino Caputo, fundraising will be largely devoted to Casamicciola families who are victims of the earthquake and will in part fund scholarships and specialization courses for worthy students of the Spoleto Institute of Hotels.
