Dick Costolo CEO OF TWITTER IN SHANGHAI FOR HIS FIRST MISSION TO CHINA

The CEO of Twitter, Dick Costolo , will land in Shanghai today for his first official mission to China , a country where the social network is blocked since 2009. The U.S. manager will spend three days in the financial capital of China , where he will meet with local government authorities and will be compared with the professors and students of Fudan University . There are no stages in Beijing.

Costolo gave no details on the reasons for the trip. A spokesman for the company has merely stated that ” Dick is visiting China because want to learn more about the Chinese culture and the burgeoning technology sector in the country .”
E ‘, however understandable that Costolo intend to find out if one of the Chinese censorship can be opened to allow breaches of doing business in a market of 600 million users. The CEO of Twitter inconterà in fact representatives Pilot Free Trade Area of Shanghai , which was created last year to experiment with measures of market liberalization, although the authorities have so far denied that the area will loosen the rules on to the network. If Google has left China in 2010 , not accepting the local rules on the internet, there is’ in fact even those who, like the number one Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg , often visits the former Celestial Empire in hopes of finding a way to extend you their activities. Last June Costolo stated that ” he would like to be able to launch such as Twitter in China,” but that would not have been willing to ” sacrifice the principles of the platform and the way in which we believe that users should be able to communicate ” .
Yet China is already contributing to the turnover of the company : its subsidiary MoPub , an advertising platform for smart phone applications , has several Chinese developers among its clients and the colossus Lenovo is among the advertisers of Twitter. And in China , however, there are users who manage to bypass filters and access Twitter via VPN networks not only dissident artist Ai Weiwei as well as the state media agency Xinhua and the official television channel CCTV manage active Twitter profiles .
