” VETRINE” , ANDY WARHOL THE PAN OF NAPLES
“I love Naples because it reminds me of New York , especially for the many transvestites and garbage on the street. How New York is a city that is falling apart , and people are happy in spite of everything . Naples But there is also the best fish , the best pasta and the best wine. What else can I add ? ”
So the visionary genius Andy Warhol described Naples, in the not too distant 1980.
And it is the beautiful ” New York Italian ” to host an exhibition of the great artist now .
In fact, from April 18 to July 20 will be held at the PAN exposure ” Showcases ” curated by Achille Bonito Oliva and organized by the ” Spiral of ideas” in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism of the City of Naples .
An opportunity not to be missed by tourists and Neapolitans , who will be able to admire more than 180 works of the most famous exponent of pop art , discovering the bond that united him to the city of Naples , which Warhol fell in love in the mid ‘ 70 thanks to my friend gallerist Lucio Amelio and Mario Franco.
The ‘ capital of the Mediterranean ‘ has been a great source of inspiration for the American artist , just think of the series “Vesuvius” or all’headline work ” Hurry ” (based on the first page of “The Morning” which reported the news the Irpinia earthquake )
The art exhibition includes portraits of famous personalities and the Neapolitan ” Napoliroid ” (his ‘ Neapolitan views ‘ ), the series ” Ladies and Gentlemen ” , the drawings made starting from the photographs of Wilhelm von Gloeden (bought by his own Amelio ) the famous ” series of Marilyn ” as well as works ” advertising ” ( produced by record companies , shops , luxury footwear brand , large deployments of the supermarket ) that marked his transition from artist to chart .
